Quick Start
Pictures, songs, documents...
If you have hunted tons of files, when you get more, a trouble would come -- new incomes maybe already exist. How to join the real new to your collections easily and quickly? OK! Your smart assistant -- CloneSensor is coming!
Assume that "D:\Collection" is the directory which stores your organized collections of files and "D:\Incoming" is your new incoming directory. In CloneSensor, files have three types of states (Preserved, Deleted
, or Unsettled
).
- Run CloneSensor; Within the New Search Dialog, add the directories you want to find (Tips: You can add your collection directories, incoming directories and so on in the tab Default Search Directory in the Options Dialog. The search path input box is a dropdown combobox. It would list recent search paths, up to 10 entries.); click OK.
- Now the Process Dialog would pop up, and the information about the search progress and statistics would refresh continually until the search finishes and the button Done turns enabled, then click Done.
- If duplicate files exist, on the main window, the Directory TreeView at the left part would display the directories in which duplicate files are present, the File ListView at the right-top part would display the files stored in the selected directory, and the Clone ListView at the right-bottom part would display the duplicate files of the selected file in the File ListView. You can browser and deal duplicate files in the Tree & List View
mode or the One ListView
mode (See Main Window) - Right-click on "D:\Collection" and select from the pop-up menu. As a result, the files in "D:\Collection" would all be set to the preserved
state, and the files which are identical with the files in "D:\Collection" would all be set to the deleted
state if they are unsettled
files.
- Click on the toolbar, navigate to the next unsettled
file, and set its state.
- Repeat the procedure 5, smartly simplify the steps by the batch commands from the pop-up menu, until unsettled
files don't exist.
- Normally, to the duplicate files, you need only one copy, but the batch commands maybe let some files and their duplicate files all be set to preserved
or deleted
state; in this case, you can just click and on the toolbar, navigate to the corresponding file, and reset its state.
- You definitely want your file in the collections to be assigned a nice name; to realize that, just click on the toolbar, which will bring you to the file which name does not match its duplicate files. If the new incoming files are better than your old files in filename, you can rename your files in the collections easily by fast renaming commands (See Filename Management).
- When your job of state setting has reached a conclusion, just click on the toolbar and the Delete Confirm Dialog will appear. As you confirm it, CloneSensor would delete the files marked cross
according to the Delete Option in the Options Dialog.
- CloneSensor support the function that you can manage the files of the certain state first and manage the rest next. So if there are unsettled
files still, you can keep on the procedures list above.
Tips: Double click on filename or press enter when select a file, the selected file will be opened by default associated program.
Attention: During the search procedure, don't do the file operation (create, delete, etc.) in the search directories, or else maybe get wrong result!
